Step into a Brighter Future with Public Speech Classes
For many, the thought of presenting in front of a group is a fear-inducing proposition. However, with the right training, public speaking can actually unlock a whole new world of possibilities. Public Speech Classes are designed to build your confidence, improve your communication skills, and make you a more persuasive speaker. All these are elements you need to succeed in your professional and personal life. And often, these courses also touch on social issues, allowing participants to engage in deeper discussions and broaden their perspectives.
Public speech classes are not solely about learning how to deliver a presentation or how to communicate effectively, they are about becoming a more confident person overall. Being well-spoken is a valuable attribute that can set you apart from the crowd in a variety of situations.
A standard course in public speaking typically includes experience-based learning, where students practice public speaking through exercises that mimic real-world scenarios. This could be a formal presentation, an informal chat, a debate, or even a job interview. Students receive feedback about their performance, providing them with valuable insights into their strengths and areas for improvement.
Besides building your speaking abilities, most public speaking classes also foster critical thinking. They encourage students to analyze different perspectives, construct logical arguments, and consider the ethical implications of their speech. All these skills are invaluable, both on a personal and professional level.
A segment of these courses usually features issues centered around gender equity, with a special focus on women empowerment programs. This allows students to engage in robust discourse and understand the significance of these programs in our society. Not only does this foster awareness, but these discussions also allow participants to learn how to effectively advocate for change, further amplifying the importance of their voices.
In public speech classes, you’ll often find a diverse group of participants. From teenagers finding their voice, to adults seeking to improve their professional communication, and even senior citizens who wish to become more confident speakers, it’s a melting pot of different perspectives. This diversity enriches the learning experience as it broadens the range of perspectives and issues discussed in the class.
Importantly, public speaking is a skill that transcends all careers and industries. It’s not just for business professionals, politicians, and broadcasters. Teachers, clerics, servers, chefs, healthcare professionals, engineers – virtually everyone can benefit from improved public speaking skills. And therein lies the value of public speech classes. They equip you with abilities and confidence you can use across every sphere of your life.
Investing in a public speaking class can indeed reap significant benefits for your personal growth and career progression. You could join a local workshop or course, or you could take an online class. Whichever method you choose, remember that practice is crucial. It’s about stepping out of your comfort zone, time and time again. After all, as they say, the magic happens outside your comfort zone.

There s a big irony to the writing process, and it is this: While we seek to optimize our creativity while writing, the inert nature of the task works against the brain s ability to perform at its imaginative best.
It s become axiomatic that flashes of insight or even grand epiphanies come to us while showering, driving, walking, hiking through the woods and so on. In other words, breakthrough thinking comes during physical activity when the brain is charged with quicken blood flow and a higher dose of dopamine and other chemicals.
This is no mystery. We ve known for a long time that physical movement stimulates the brain. A stimulated brain is more creative. Yet almost all writing is done sitting in a chair with the body physically inert. No significant movement, as with showering or walking, and no significant visual stimulation as with driving a car and observing the rush of passing imagery.
Indeed, one of fiction s most prolific and respected novelists, Joyce Carol Oates, and one of the craft s foremost writing coaches, Julia Cameron, have both talked about walking as an essential part of their routines for keeping their writing sharp. Cameron s even written a book titled, Walking in this World: The Practical Art of Creativity.
I tackled this issue years ago when I bought a tiny hand-held digital recorder. Mine happens to be manufactured by Sony, though there are many different makers of the device. They re not expensive and they hold many hours of spoken content. The recorder permits me to write while I walk or drive or engage in other types of physical activity.
Ninety percent of this article was written during an afternoon walk through the rainy streets of Northern California. The walk lasted all of 30 minutes. There is even good software these days that will take your recorded text and turn it into printed type in your word processing document, so you don t have to painstakingly transcribe your recordings.
I was inspired to buy the recorder when I started taking walks and noticed better ideas springing to mind for the writing assignments I was working on. My recall was good but not complete, so when I got back to my word processor I d dash off as much as I could. What obviously made sense was to buy a recorder and capture those thoughts in their entirety in real time. It allows me to produce a high volume of content for my first or original drafts.
It wasn t easy at first. It seemed awkward talking into a recorder. I tended to walk streets, walkways and hiking paths with the fewest people and vehicles. Still, in short order I found writing aloud a more natural and less self-conscious activity.
I was further drawn to this concept of writing on the move after I read a book titled Spark: The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain. It was given to me by 24 Hour Fitness CEO Carl Liebert, who considered the book a breakthrough work on the comprehensive value of exercise and fitness.
The book s author, John J. Ratey a clinical associate professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, writes in the book s introduction: In today s technology-drive, plasma-screened-in world, it s easy to forget that we are born movers animals in fact because we ve engineered movement right out of our lives.
Ratey writes at length about how exercise floods the brain with neurotransmitters and other chemicals that stimulate the brain, enhance its learning capabilities and generally help maintain its overall health so much so that women who exercise are 50 percent less prone to dementia in their elder years.
Even the act of getting up from the desk and pacing in my living room would often give me access to the wordplay, turns of phrase or transitions I was searching for. Then it was back to the chair, back to a static posture and a gradual deceleration of the brain s electrical activity.
So what I m proposing is that we rethink our traditional way of writing, that we get off our seats and move, that we stimulate our brains and verbally narrate the document we re writing. Make writing a physically active process.
There s an additional benefit to this approach. Our writing becomes more conversational, a characteristic that enhances its readability. There s something about the formality of sitting in a chair, hunched over a keyboard, that encourages formality in our writing. Certainly there are times we want our writing to strike a formal tone. But more often than not that s a stilted way to communicate. It s less interesting, more difficult to read and lacking in personality. The less personality in our writing the less chance of people being drawn to it and feeling an emotional connection. That s key to producing powerful, influential writing.
So get on your feet and get moving. Make it a habit. It will make you healthier and more imaginative. Done consistently and earnestly your writing will blossom and take on some new dimensions.

The cost of group health insurance has risen steadily over the previous few years and as such many people are really struggling to cover the costs associated with their policy. This does certainly put people in danger, not only in terms of their health, but also in terms of their finances. When looking for an affordable policy there are a few things you might want to try.
Anyone who is in employment should always find out whether a group health insurance package is offered within their benefits. Many large companies will offer an insurance policy free of charge. Many others may well offer a largely subsidised package. Either way, this is always the best option and you may even get a policy for free.
If this is not an option for you but you have a partner who may get free group health insurance as part of their package then it is a good idea to find out whether you are going to be covered on this policy as well. Again, if this is the case then you should always choose this option instead of getting your own independent policy.
If you have recently been in employment but you are now out of work then you should first turn to your old employer when looking for a separate policy. You may well qualify under the COBRA plan, enabling you to receive insurance and coverage for an additional 12 months after you have lost your job. In many cases, however, this type of policy is actually very expensive and it may therefore be a better option to look elsewhere.
Comparison sites should always be taken advantage of when you are trying to find affordable policies on the general market. A comparison site will enable you to into your information a single time and then generate a significant list of available policies that you could choose from. All you really need to do is compare the policy is available and then find those which fit within your criteria and within your budget.
One of the key points that will have an impact upon the the premiums that you have to pay will be the deductible on your policy. The higher your deductible is, the lower your premiums will become. If you are really looking to save some money, therefore, then it is always a good idea to set a high deductible on your account. It is, however, important to note that you do need to be able to cover this sum if you want to file a claim.
The amount of coverage you get is also going to be something that you should consider closely. At the end of the day it is not a good idea to leave yourself short of coverage, but at the same time it is going to be a huge waste of money if you purchase coverage you don’t require. Evaluate your circumstances closely and you should hit the mark.
Before purchasing any policy it may also be a good idea to get in touch with your provider over the phone. You can do this in order to ask any questions and verify your understanding of any aspects of your policy.

More and more the mother of the bride is being asked to deliver a speech at her daughters wedding. If this is you then what should you say and how can you be sure to deliver a confident speech on the day that reflects well on you and your daughter?
Consider why you have been asked to speak at your daughters wedding. It may be you are speaking in place of the father of the bride. If this is the case then you will need to cover this traditional role and incorporate traditional father of the bride content in your speech. If you are speaking as well as the father then you should make your speech additional to and flow from the fathers speech but as the mother you can let your more feminine side and the special relationship a mother has with her daughter show through.
You should start off your mother of the bride speech by introducing yourself then you can perhaps tell a humorous story about the bride. Be very careful around this point though, do not make jokes at the expense of the bride. This is her day. Although you are a very important part of the day and your daughters life you need to do enough to make her proud but nothing to detract from the bride on her special day.
Talk about how your daughter first met her husband or when she first told you about him or first introduced him to you.
Thank the grooms parents for having such a wonderful son and also welcome them, especially if they have had to travel.
There are always many special guests and people who will have helped make the day special by supplying flowers, catering, dresses or transport for instance that should be thanked and of course a mention of the brides father may also be appropriate.
Of course you should close with a toast. Take some time to think about a beautiful statement for the toast, even a short poem, as this will sum up and end your speech on a high note and trigger a rapturous applause.
How do you ensure that you will be on form on the day and make your daughter proud? The fact is that there are may tips and tricks to help with public speaking but the only good and sure way is to practice. It doesn’t matter even if your mother of the bride speech has not made it’s final draft. Still practice. Start by reading the speech out loud from the paper. After a time you will find that whole thing can be broken down into small sections. Don’t try and read the speech from paper on the day, this never comes over well. Instead write the headers and the first few words of each ‘small section’ on small prompt cards. Then you will have a prompt for each short section. Keep practising using the prompt cards. You will not get it right first time, don’t worry this is perfectly normal and you may need to tweak the prompt cards as you get better.
One good trick is to record the speech and replay is when you in the car or out walking but ensure you talk along with it out loud. Also make sure you practice in front of someone as this will always bring out the bugs in your speech and give you some positive feedback.
Ensure you start this process at least some weeks before the wedding, earlier if possible, so that you have plenty of practice time. By the time the big day comes around you will have the speech firmly burned into your mind. Do not ever try to wing it on the day as that will always show through.
The truth is that as the mother of the bride you will already likely have many weeks or months of wedding planning to take care of and will have little time to spare and you will very likely benefit from some help with your mother of the bride speech.

Coaching High School Soccer: Winning Tactics
by
Andre Botelho
I don’t know if you know this but communication is the most important element to succeed in coaching high school soccer. The actual meaning of coaching kids is the art of communicating with them. It lets you speak to mind in the simplest way and allow the other to do the activity in exactly the same way.
In soccer coaching, I’ve come to notice that generally the former players have assumed the responsibility of being coaches. Even then they have to deal with many issues in coaching young players. The reason why many of these issues show up is the coach’s inability to communicate. Your role as a coach would become far easier if you just pay attention to some most important communication issues. Let me explain them to you one at a time. Coaches generally allow their emotions to become involved while watching their kids play. The coaches become spectators instead of adopting a critical approach to observing the kids. They fail to notice the important points that could better their team’s performance. The coaches fail to have an effective conversation that could help the players get to the winning post. The coaches are generally not trained to communicate effectively although they have all the knowledge of the game. For example; in soccer coaching, use of a video or a flip chart is not very common since most coaches don’t know about them. It’s important for the coach to know the game well but if he is unable to communicate his thoughts, the training gets repetitive. In coaching high school soccer, communication becomes all the more important because the kids start to understand the game quite well. They have been doing these soccer drills for some time but at different levels. And one of the ways to avoid the boredom of repeating important messages is to keep varying the format. The coaches have a tendency to just forget that training sessions are being executed by human beings and not machines. They tend to get carried away in the process of coaching and training. An example of ineffective communication by a coach is when he fails to use a player’s name while giving instructions which produces uncertainty. Some guiding principles for coaches in football coaching are given below: Every message coming from the coach carries equal importance. So ensure that they are understood completely and correctly. Your language should be positive enough to push the players to try hard to perform well. Let them become better players with every passing day rather than pointing out their weaknesses. Pay equal attention to each player in the team. It has come to light through various studies that coaches spend much more time with their top players (up to seven times more!). Don’t wait for the problems to arise to sort them out. Accentuate your player’s self worth by balancing praise with criticism. Tip the balance more towards praise with players in coaching high school soccer. Trust me. When you apply these rules to your training sessions, the benefits will be much more that you’ll expect. There’s lot more to know and understand about this aspect of soccer only if you wish to. Fire was the first discovery and wheel was the first invention. Since that time, we have traveled far. Science has taken us to territories we could not have envisaged some centuries ago. 20th century was when science really came into its own. It produced magic realism for us. Half of our present day inventions were inconceivable a century ago.
Science had brought great laurels in every field but the one place where it has really shone is technology. Today, we have access to some of the most unbelievable technical inventions. A few centuries ago, a mastermind called Leonardo da Vinci made the first blue-print for an aero plane. Today, even the economy class, domestic seaters have become pass. It is time for the new avatars. Who would have thought that we could fly miles above the ground on a machine that is streamlined to fight air resistance?
A few days ago, NASA launched a Space Shuttle called Discovery. It is supposed to use truss bands and solar wings to propose a new means of solar reception. Imagine, a tangible metallic object run on hydrogen fuel, stationary in space, thousand miles away, bringing us news, data and newer means of improvement.
Its not only about the aerial endeavors. Vehicles which run terrestrially are packed with newer inventions by the day. The Lamborghini, Masseratti, and Maybachs have technology written all over them. These are the mechanical devices which have made us a Nano-race.
We have rewritten the rules for acoustics and the auditoriums and theater studios are a testimony to this. We have come into a digital age. Computers have given way to laptops and then to notebooks and palmtops. Picture-tube televisions have metamorphosed into LCDs and Plasma. They offer High Definition Imaging which again is a vanguard formula.
Landlines took a leap with mobiles. The mobiles have converted into a complete island of entertainment and communication.
Internet has brought the impossible within means. It has made online education possible through its familiarized territory. A teacher in Spain can teach a student in Nigeria with the help of Elluminate whiteboards and Voice Chat modules.
Heat Sensor technology and technical receptors have advanced to such an extent that we can make refractors which respond to heat and temperature variations a hundred miles away.
Mathematicians such as John Nash; scientists like Albert Einstein and Isaac Newton, and many others have turned the tables of the world. Theory of Relativity and Gravitational Constant has been the cornerstone of many scientific inventions.
Science has really beautified life. Today, you can visit your ailing relative on the other side of the globe within a day. You can look at an award ceremony held in London, sitting in a nook of Algeria. You can convert thousand and thousand pages of data into a pin size chip and still have plenty of space left.
You cannot come back from the dead but thats probably the only thing you cannot do. The borders of time and space are certainly shrinking.
